Cersei and Jaime quarrel at the end of A Storm of Swords in the white room of the White Sword Tower. (UK edition p. 447)

This was intended from the start as a companion of my Cersei and Jaime 1 [link] and planned at the same time. You can see that it took me a year to finally paint it. I intended to show the changes in their relationship, from the previous (apparent) understanding and thoughts affinity from the later distance and break up.

This scene from ASOS was a colour challenge, since the characters are in a white room and both dressed in white. Jaime wears the white tunic of the Kingsguard and Cersei wears a white gown decorated with emeralds. The whiteness and purity of colours obviously contrast with the violence of their discussion and with the illiciteness of their familiar relationships (their incest, the fact that Cersei wants Tyrion killed, etc).
Painting a whole scene in white is definitely difficult, and I tried on one hand to get the shades with complementary colours without any use of black, and on the other hand to make everything recognizable. I feel there's something still missing from my colouring, probably a bolder chiaroscuro and bolder projected shadows. At the end, the image is both too coloured (with too many colours, I mean) and too less contrasted, I fear.
