The shattered dream of Bitterbridge.

I wonder which were the relations between Renly, Loras and Margaery. She knew for sure that her brother had a special friendship with his lord. At the moment of planning the wedding, did Loras prayed Margaery to marry Renly so that the thing could remain in the family?
Many know that my personal opinion about the Tyrells, and especially Margaery, is that they are sly persons who follow only their ambition (as pretty much everyone else in Westeros). Oh, I hope to learn more about Renly from Loras' POV, if there would be one in Dance with Dragons..

First sketch of this made before summer, finally I was able to do it again and colour it. Loras had a much more adoring expression in the sketch, but unfortunately I lost it :P

 Renly Baratheon: "My beautiful queen-"

Ser Loras: "I'M HERE MY KING!"

King Renly: "- actually this time I was talking to your sister; I DID marry the woman after all."

Margaery Tyrell-Baratheon: "The things I do for love."

HA! We haven't seen the half of the things Margaery (and the Tyrells) are planning behind Cersei's back.

Oh they're certainly planning something, but then so is EVERYONE in the Red Keep (and far too many beyond those rusty walls for the Good or the Peace of the Realm); however one suspects that if the Tyrells were getting up to even HALF of what The Queen Dowager suspects of them she'd probably be dead already (and Queen Margaery wouldn't be in gaol!).

That would make sense since by connecting both houses through the marriage, the two families could become stronger. And Loras gets to stay closer to Renly. AND nobody has to suspect Renly's and Loras's sexuality. The Tyrells are really close together, and it's indicated that some of the family members know about Loras's sexual orientation so it wouldn't be that big of a surprise of Margery knew about their relationship.

Sorry this was so rambly! Love this painting, and the shadowing and coloring especially!!

Sadly, there's no such POV in ADwD...
This triangle was always fancinating to me. Great job in portraying them:) Although I don't like that moustache Renly has here, everything else is great! Good job!

Colouring is fabulous! And the whole situation is just great! Renly is clearly watching Margaery but his pose tells that his true interests are elsewhere. Polite but cold way of holding hands, long distance between them and looks that cross each other but don't truly meet. Good work!

Sempre su DA, ma nella fase frenetica in cui cercavo QUALSIASI COSA ASOIAF e non badavo agli autori. Questa era una delle mie preferite... adesso che so che sei una conterranea, ancor meglio!

This is marvelous. You've really mastered both the color and lighting as well as the human face and form. They have great expressiveness.

It's funny, I never really thought of the Tyrell's as too bad...at least not Loras and Margaery (sp?). Mace was definitely playing the game of thrones, but Loras always seemed to be a true believer in chivalry and honor (even if he was a bit too pampered by wealth) and Margaery was so sweet. But then A Feast for Crows kind of disturbed that image, didn't it?

Again, wonderful picture and a definite :+favlove:

thank you for the comment.
My opinion about the Tyrells changed after reading a thread in an ASOIAF forum, in which the author explained his theory of a Tyrell plan to frame Cersei in A Feast for Crows. I found it very reasonable. But anyway, the last word will be Martin's...
