The Boar front cover by cabepfir The Boar front cover by cabepfir
Front cover for my long-announced comic about Richard III, "Il cinghiale" (the boar, with reference to Richard's emblem).

I'm going to present the Boar project in Lucca Comics & Games next weekend.
More infos in my current journal. Stay tuned.

----edit

Waiting for a proper publication, I put The Boar on lulu to get it spread in the meantime. You can download it in pdf clicking here [link] at 3,50 euros (of which, some 2 go to me), or you can have a copy printed at 13,50 euros (of which I get some 3 euros). PLEASE NOTE that the comic is in Italian at the moment and hand-lettered by me (as you can see in some samples I uploaded on dA).
For the future I hope to be able to translate it, if I have the time and patience to do that.

Wow, wow, wow! Congratulations on finishing it! From what I've seen, this art is stunning, and it's just so exciting that a devoted Richardian's put it together! If you do end up publishing it, count me in as someone who'll definitely buy it, English or Italian. (Although it would be wonderful if there was a translation. ;D) I look forward to seeing more of this!

thank you so much for the support. I put the pdf in Italian on lulu and I definitely plan to translate it, even if I'll need a lot of time for that. You can read the comment for more info.

There is a small possibility that I'll translate it. After all, the main public that could be interested in a story of Richard III is the anglophone one. :P

Interesting, here in Catalonia there's a similar word, senglar for cinghiale.

I'm not convinced with the cover, seem quite drab to me, but hope it'll work!

I wish to see your comic soon!

well the inside too is quite gloomy :D The story really has a tragic quality, and it's very introspective, so I wanted to keep this tone in the cover.
Anyway, we'll see! :)

In French the word is "sanglier", so pretty much simitar to Catalan ;)

It IS ready, yep. *victory*
Anyway, due to the small time left before the Lucca Comics convention, I had to print it in a rush and the printer office did me a lamentable job :P In any case, this is not the last word, since I plan to distribute it through Lulu or something like that. And there is the possibility that I'll translate it, we'll see if I have the patience to do that! I'll keep you informed :)
Thank you so much!

Are you going to try to find a publisher, or is Lulu or comparable your definitive goal?

Also, if you do translate it, I'm always willing to offer you my humble editorial services, should you want them :).

I can't wait to see the comic! :D

Hee hee! We were thinking the same thing, then :D.

Yes, I think translation won't be easy - it rarely is. I'm writing in English, as you know, and whenever I contemplate doing a Dutch version (for example, because only a Dutch version can get you a government grant) I start to despair. Well, that's a bit of an exaggeration, but still...

Before you publish through the web, I think it might be worthwhile to check whether that has any consequences for 'real' publication. A friend on LJ once told me that you can only publish a limited number of pages online, for example - but I don't know the details, and maybe Lulu is a different case altogether.

You have preceded me :D Yes, I was going to ask you to be my beta-reader, when I'll translate it. I fear that will be hard to translate it, because - in Italian - I used a language which is both filled with colloquialisms (even word jokes, that are the translator's nightmare) and courtly in some occasions.

No, I'm going to seek a proper publisher. But I know that this kind of search can be harsh, so in the meantime I'll try to spread it a bit more through the web.
